OBA was appointed by Carlton hotel, a hotel chain from Singapore, to design its first hotel outside Singapore in Bangkok. The structure of the 34-story building was constructed 10 years ago and has been abandoned since then. The structure was renovated to accommodate 338 guestrooms, a Chinese restaurant from Singapore on the 2nd floor, banquet, function rooms and meeting facilities on 8th and 9th floors linked together by glass lift in an 8-story-high atrium. Executive lounge is located on the 33rd floor. The hotel features sky bar on the top floor with a view towards the west of Sukhumvit Rd.
While the interior of the building cannot be altered much due to the built structure, OBA proposed a new unique façade design for the building by introducing the undulating lines for both tower and podium. Besides the glazing façade, the tower features a combination of dark grey aluminum composite cladding and copper-colored mesh while the podium offers different appearance when looking from different angle with copper aluminum composite panel vertical fins.
